The Extra $600 Americans Get In Weekly Unemployment Benefits Is Ending

The coronavirus pandemic caused so many Americans to lose their jobs since then unemployment benefits changed. People have been receiving up to an extra $600 weekly.

A new proposal wanted to extend the extra $600 weekly, but the Trump administration opposed the proposal.

Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia said the extra $600 weekly “was the right thing to do,″ but is no longer needed as the economy begins to recover.

Some people feel the extra money was “poorly targeted” because most people were being paid more on unemployment than they made at their job. Sen. Chuck Grassley believes that “discourages people from returning to work or taking a new job, delaying the recovery.”
